“The greatest war a man can fight is the war against indecision”…..Anonymous
Its a beautiful new month christened August and you know what…
it promises to be exciting and fun-filled as usual.
I remembered talking to you last week about flying with the eagles and I guessed you didn’t wait a minute to savour every bit of it.
We would be taking this week about one particular syndrome that can prevent you from flying high with the eagles. This particular syndrome is nothing but Mr Or Mrs Indecision.
I have decided to give it that that title so you will understand that it happens to everyone. Permit me to say that indecision has no respect for age, gender or any other classification.
Many times, we suddenly find ourselves swimming and drowning in its valley. In worst-case scenarios, it is as though we have lost sight and track of everything viz our goals, finances and all the rest.
You see indecision can be deadly and detrimental to our lives in all aspects. You want to ask me why?
Now, the journey called life is meant to be travelled on a progressive scale. It is more like a bicycle. To keep balance, you have to keep cycling and moving. But imagine yourself getting to a three road intersection or crossroad and having no idea whatsoever on the road to take or the next line of action.
Then, that monster called indecision starts to rear up its ugly head. Before you know it, you are counting seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years and no single movement or achievement.
I have found out Indecision comes around when we don’t have a plan whatsoever of what we want to do or achieve. Notice that I referred to indecision as a war. This is because we have different opinions coming forth but we are incapacitated. Hence, we are at war with ourselves.
Indecision has a lot today about a person. I must tell you on a frank note that someone who suffers from indecision has trouble making decisions and can be scared and unwilling to step out from his or her comfort zones.
I am pretty sure that the question of what causes indecision is sweeping through your mind right? Good.
Indecision is caused by several factors some of which are:
1. Fear of failure
2. Fear of been hurt or betrayed
3. Presence of perfectionist tendencies
4. Inability to let go of pleasing others
5. Lack of effective plans
Have I mentioned the ways you can avoid this? No right?
Let’s quickly talk about the strategies by which you can overcome the syndrome of Indecision:
1. Pay Attention to Your Emotions.
2. Take Your Time.
3. Think Strategically.
4. Don’t try to please anyone, be yourself
5. Be responsible to and for yourself
6. Destroy Your Perfection Mindset.
7. Let Go of Bad Decisions as well as the past
8. Be focused and visualise success in realistic terms
I believe you enjoyed my piece. I’d be looking forward to your views in the comments section.
