It is hardly impossible and difficult for anybody to say he or she wakes and sleeps a day without a single thought crossing his or her mind. Research in the fields of cognitive and behavioural psychology has proved the above assertion by saying that over 50,000 thoughts crosses the mind of an average human being. This is to say that we think a lot at different times and in different situations.
Several thoughts such as what to eat, where to go, what to engage in fill our minds like a flowing river. Needless to say, is the fact that our thoughts and the choices we make are like siamese twins joined together.
It is important to know that our minds are like fertile soils and the thoughts we think are like seeds. If we sow good seeds (thoughts), then we will reap the benefits. If we decide to go the other way round, we also get the corresponding results too.
Broadly speaking, thoughts can be divided into good and bad or wholesome and unwholesome. Good thoughts bring positive reactions such as inventions, happiness and pleasure. Bad or negative thoughts, on the other hand, brings about disappointment, guilts, self-pity and depression.
Now, you might be asking: does our thought affect or Influence our life?
Trust me it does in a variety of ways. It affects our moods you hear people talk of mood swings, it all boils down to the quality of thoughts they entertain. The thoughts we think does affect our behaviour and conversely our attitudes and personality.
I have even come to understand that the moment I start thinking, the next moment I start exhibiting the thoughts I engaged in awhile ago.
Our thoughts also affect the choices we make, our behavioural patterns and our lifestyle in general.
For anyone be it old or young to be successful in life, we have no choice than to think right. That is, to live a life of bliss filled with astounding achievements, you must be ready to develop and capture a positive picture of the goals and vision ahead of you. This will propel and stimulate you to take relevant actions.
Think of the Wright brothers who designed the aeroplane or of Jeff Bezos who designed the first e-commerce website, what do you suppose was one of the reasons they succeeded? It was simply as a result of the quality of thoughts they engaged their minds in. This could be the reason why it is said that whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. This is to say that if you think right, then you will act right vice-versa.
Let me conclude this piece by telling you a personally modified version of a poem I learnt during my childhood days:
Better think right before you act,
Do you know you have two minds (thoughts),
The good one and the bad one,
When you act right, it is the good one,
When you act wrong, it is the bad one,
The bad one is very tempting and watches you as you make your choice
So think right before you act.
I am pretty sure you enjoyed my piece! I would be looking forward to your opinions in the comments.
