I know this sounds funny but you need to read this piece. Yesterday I felt I had to write an article and this kept lingering in my thoughts. Truthfully, I didn’t know the title to give it but after a thorough reflection on prior experiences, this seemed like a suitable headline. I’m sure you are itching to find out what this is all about. Let’s go there!
As a kid, I loved storybooks and movies. I remember how much I loved English Language because we were always asked to write compositions on one thing or the other. After every holiday, our teacher would ask us to write a composition on how we spent our last holiday and I always couldn’t wait to narrate my story. I bought an exercise book, pasted all sorts of stickers on the cover (just to make it look attractive) and wrote series of stories in it (I even went as far as drawing). As I got to the senior class, I got so engrossed with work, reading and home lessons that I abandoned this story writing hobby of mine. Fast forward to University, I lost this gift and that was it (I practically forgot I could write).
You must be wondering when the angel will come in (LOL). NYSC was coming to a close and lots of activities were mapped out for us. On this wonderful day, we were all forced to attend a lecture organised to help us on our job search mission and what caught my attention was the speaker. She looked so beautiful, well dressed and decent and the first thing that came to my mind was: this is it! Earlier, I had discovered my passion and purpose and I could see myself in her as she talked with so much confidence and poise. Usually, I hate to walk up to people just for the fear of being ignored or embarrassed but my friend propelled me to talk to her. We approached her and with a smile, she gave us her contact (which is also unlike her).
I got back to the real world and suddenly I remembered she had an HR Firm, somehow, I applied and I was invited for an interview. For the second time, I met with her (you can imagine the joy that filled my heart). This time around, she asked me questions about myself and since she was an author and I wanted to work with her, I had to do a lot of writing. The question popped up: have you ever written an article before? Looking timid, I responded NO (I didn’t think all I used to write back then made sense, in fact, I had forgotten). She gave me an assignment before I left that day, I was asked to write out my life goal, passion and the likes and that was it.
Something special about me is my ability to try out things and ensure I succeed at doing them. So, when I got home, I picked up a piece of paper and started to write (so easy, yeah?). My first article wasn’t it at all but I didn’t relent. Somehow, somethings came up and I couldn’t work with her anymore (maybe she was just sent to make me rediscover and reignite that part of me). I remembered I opened a blog some years back so, I wiped off everything I had on it and started writing anything that came to my mind. Before I knew it, I already had close to 40 articles in less than a year. It kept coming naturally… Let’s stop here.
Sometimes we stare in the wrong direction by predicting everyone that crosses our path will help us financially or what have you. We are so blind to taking good advice and we forfeit everything these set of people have in store for us. Haven’t you realised that God will not come down Himself? He always reaches out to people through fellow human beings. You keep wondering why you are stuck in a particular position forgetting you have driven away that awesome being assigned to get you out of whatever situation you are in. Your Angel can be your wife, husband, child, friend, teacher, etc. The earlier you start to appreciate people in your life, the more you progress in life. Ask yourself now! Who is my Angel?
Check now, there must be someone you have ignored in the course of your life’s journey whose exit has led to one unfortunate situation or the other. The moment you detect, kindly place a call before it’s too late, you just might be lucky. Stop acting like you know it all when you have no idea what you are doing. Learn to listen and of course ensure you are in the right place at the right time. Don’t be a toxic individual, be accommodative. Your Angel is just around the corner, be humble and observant.
