2018 is winding up, everyone is evaluating their activities for the year. It has become a norm for companies to appraise their staff as each year runs out. They retrench those that are redundant and promote those who are highly productive. For me, 2018 has been a year full of lessons.
The year started on a very good note, I had high hopes of what this year had to offer. I couldn’t wait for it to end because I was so sure of how it would turn out. Have you ever found yourself in situations where you felt you had everything figured out and God just turns everything around? I never understood what God had in store for me, I was so concerned about how to achieve all I had planned in the previous year. You see, now I believe the quote “man proposes, God disposes“. At some point in the year, I got bewildered and disappointed because things did not turn out as planned. In the midst of it all, I realized I could not help God, I could not fight Him. All I had to do was sit back and watch Him settle things for me. God does care about us and He speaks to us in diverse manners. Your duty is to keep calm and listen to Him carefully. I had to rewrite my goals for the year in June. Yes, JUNE! I said to myself: “it is not too late to achieve anything”. An idea struck my mind, I took actions and it began to yield great results. Gifts of men started popping in and I knew from that moment that God had planned it earlier. I can say boldly that in 2018, God has laid a solid foundation I will build upon next year. Mind you, this is the least of all.
How well did you make use of the opportunities that came your way in 2018? What lessons have you learnt? What did you achieve? What values have you added to yourself? Have you reached out to others? Do you belong to the class of people that make excuses? That you are still alive means there is a lot to do. As hard as it is to believe, do you know you can still get something good out of this year?
As you prepare to start another journey, carry out an assessment of the goals you set. Look into those you achieved and those you ignored. Purpose in your heart that you would do better next year (it might be a second chance), stay away from negative people (this is necessary), believe God has your back, be thankful for life and a sound mind and above all strive to be a blessing to others especially in this festive season.
Are you a better version of you?
