I posted Part 1 with this caption: “Do you feel you are worth nothing, are you depressed? If YES, this is for you and if NO, share to help others”. This got a lot of people talking. Some said they have friends who have tried to or thought of committing suicide, others said they know people who have to read it. While ruminating on these responses, I realized we always ignore the truth. We fail to admit we are depressed or suicidal because of the fear of what people would say or think about us. We seem to forget the fact that we are indirectly hurting ourselves and sooner or later it would escalate and become uncontrollable. I have explained this in my write-up “dealing with low self-esteem” https://myinnerawesomeness.com/2018/09/26/dealing-with-low-self-esteem-3/ read through to have a clearer understanding of this.
Suicide does not just happen, a lot of things stimulates it. Depression, hopelessness, low self-esteem, paying attention to negative comments, verbal abuse, mental illness, substance abuse and so on. Learn to seek help, speak to the right people, make a deal with yourself that nothing done or said to you would affect you negatively. Do not withdraw, you cannot solve your problems alone.
Depression is a mood disorder that causes feelings of sadness and can affect deeply one’s daily activities. Just like we have different types of people, there are so many causes of depression. When one feels disappointed because one’s expectations are not met, hopelessness sets in. It is totally normal to feel down at certain times, your ability to manage such situations and snap out of them is what makes you a Champion.
Do you feel suicidal because of your family background? Are you depressed because of one deformity or the other? Have you given up on your dreams?… Just before you do something irrational, I want you to realize that there are certain choices we were not allowed to make. The choice of our family, gender, physique… Your duty is to make use of what you have to create a better future for yourself. Have you asked yourself this question: “why was I created?” I believe God has a purpose He wants to fulfill in every life. Ending your life only makes Him feel you do not trust Him enough to handle your life situations.
Always remember you are not alone. Just hang on and see the good in yourself. Only then will you overcome thoughts of ending your precious life.
Psalm 34:18-19 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
