Manners maketh man! I strongly agree with this. As humans, we give more attention to the outward looks, neglecting what is on the inside. We get carried away by things we see and end up disappointed in the long run. No wonder we have lots and lots of uncultured people in this generation.
Beauty is vain, your character is what takes you places. I have heard stories of people who got job offers because of one simple act of kindness. I have also heard stories of people who met their spouse because of how well they composed themselves.
So many of us put in a lot of energy trying to look good but we fail to groom ourselves and work on our character. You can be “drop-dead” beautiful and your character is a disaster. Do not be deceived! People would praise you, flatter you and of course you would feel on top of the world. The question is: what happens after this? Listen! Beauty is subject to destruction, only a good character can stand the test of time. Remember, you would not look young forever.
It is very important for ladies to understand this. You know, this baffles me. I see good looking guys and many at times I get disappointed when I see their wives. Well, that is because I expected more. I then realized there are other things guys are on the lookout for. A respectful woman, a home maker… Proverbs 31:30, Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Do not get me wrong, we have pretty ladies with excellent character. Of course to keep a good woman, you need to possess a good character, this is for the guys. It goes both ways.
I remember I bought a biscuit because the wrapper was so attractive. I took a bite and immediately I got disgusted. Applying it to the real life situation, your body is the wrapper and your character is the biscuit itself. People would definitely get attracted, your attitude is what keeps them.
